Stretch Mark Treatment and Prevention Options
|
Stretch
marks are a direct result of rapid skin expansion. Genetics
play a major role in whether or not you will develop stretch
marks during pregnancy or not. Your skin's elasticity,
as determined by the collagen structure around your abdomen,
will either prevent stretch marks from developing or not.
There is no conclusive medical evidence that stretch mark
creams or lotions prevent or remove stretch marks but
some women say they do.
To prevent
and or reduce
your chances of developing pregnancy
stretch marks the most important factor is to keep
your weight gain at your doctor's desired level. Please
review the information found on our trimester pages for
normal and acceptable weight gain.
